JPG to PNG

Turn JPG photos into lossless PNG files on your own device β€” batch convert up to 50 images and download them as a ZIP.

Runs in your browser. Files and text you add here are processed on your own device with JavaScript and are not uploaded to our server. Some tools download a free open-source library (for example PDF.js or QPDF) from a public CDN the first time you use them. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

You need a PNG, you have a JPG. Maybe a print shop's upload form rejects anything else, maybe a slide template wants PNG, or maybe you're about to edit a screenshot and don't want each save to add another round of JPEG blur.

This converter decodes the JPG in your browser and writes a lossless PNG copy. One thing to know up front: PNG preserves exactly what the JPG contains right now. It cannot bring back detail the JPG already threw away, and it will not make the background transparent.

How It Works

  1. Select your JPG files β€” drag in one photo or up to 50 at once. The tool checks each file's extension and MIME type and rejects anything that isn't JPEG before doing any work.
  2. Decode on your device β€” the browser's built-in JPEG decoder turns each file into raw pixels on an HTML5 canvas, applying the camera's EXIF orientation flag so portrait phone shots don't come out sideways.
  3. Encode and download β€” the canvas is saved with PNG's lossless DEFLATE compression. Download files one by one or grab everything as a single ZIP.

Compatibility & Support

Supported Input β†’ Output Formats

  • Input: .jpg and .jpeg (baseline and progressive JPEG, any resolution your browser can open)
  • Output: .png, 24-bit colour plus alpha channel, same pixel dimensions as the original
  • Metadata: EXIF data (camera model, GPS location, date) is not copied into the PNG

Unsupported Formats

CMYK JPEGs exported for print from Photoshop may display with shifted colours because browsers convert CMYK to RGB with a generic profile. RAW camera files (CR2, NEF, ARW) are not JPEGs and won't load. For HEIC photos from an iPhone, use HEIC to JPG or the general Image Converter.

File Size Limits

Up to 50 images per batch and 60 MB per image. The real ceiling is your device's memory: a browser canvas tops out around 50 megapixels, so a 12,000 Γ— 9,000 px panorama may fail on a phone even though it works on a laptop.

Who Should Use This Tool?

  • Students: A student adding a scanned diagram to a report in LaTeX or Google Slides gets a clean PNG that won't degrade further when it is cropped and re-saved.
  • Freelancers & Designers: A designer receiving client logos as JPG attachments converts them to PNG before editing, so every intermediate save stays lossless.
  • Office Professionals: An HR coordinator uploading ID photos to a portal that only accepts PNG converts the whole batch in one go instead of re-exporting each file in Paint.
  • Developers: A front-end developer preparing assets for a pull request can convert a folder of screenshots in one pass without installing ImageMagick or adding a build step.

Key Features / Khusoosiyat

Here's what separates this tool from generic alternatives:

πŸ”’

Nothing Uploaded

Photos are decoded and re-encoded by your own browser. They never touch our server.

πŸ“¦

Batch + ZIP

Convert up to 50 JPGs in one run and download them together as a ZIP archive.

🧭

Correct Orientation

EXIF rotation is applied, so phone photos keep the orientation you saw in your gallery.

🧹

Metadata Stripped

GPS coordinates and camera details are left out of the PNG β€” useful before sharing publicly.

πŸ“

Pixel-Exact Size

Output keeps the original width and height; nothing is resized or cropped.

⚑

No Queue

Conversion starts instantly on your device instead of waiting for a server slot.

Why This Tool Beats the Alternatives

  • No upload at all β€” many popular converters send every photo to a remote server first.
  • No account, no email, and no watermark stamped on the result.
  • Batch conversion is free rather than limited to two files per hour.
  • Clear about limits: it tells you PNG won't restore lost quality instead of promising "HD" output.
  • Works offline once the page has loaded, which helps on patchy mobile connections.

Pro Tips

  • Expect the PNG to be 3–6Γ— larger than the JPG. That is normal for lossless storage of photographic noise; if size matters, keep the JPG or use JPG to WebP.
  • Convert to PNG before you start editing, not after. Every JPG save adds artifacts; a PNG working copy stops that from compounding.
  • Need a transparent background? Converting to PNG is only step one β€” you still have to remove the background in an editor afterwards.

Drop your JPG files into the box above and download lossless PNG copies in seconds.
