Image Compressor

The file is too big: the email bounces, the job portal rejects it, the web page loads slowly, the phone is full. For photos the fix is almost always the same two moves — reduce the pixel dimensions to what will actually be displayed, and re-encode with sensible lossy compression.

This compressor does both in your browser. A quality slider controls JPG and WebP compression, an optional maximum width scales large photos down, and you can keep the original format or switch to JPG or WebP. Up to ten images at a time, downloadable individually or as a ZIP, with before-and-after sizes shown for each.

It's honest about PNG: PNG is lossless, so a quality slider can't shrink it much. For PNG screenshots and graphics the real savings come from resizing, or from converting to WebP (which keeps transparency). If re-encoding would make a file bigger than the original, the original is returned unchanged.

Your images stay on your device — they are decoded and re-encoded with the browser's own image codecs, nothing is uploaded.

Compression also removes the hidden EXIF block most phone photos carry: camera model, date and often the exact GPS location where the picture was taken. That is a small privacy win when you post or email photos.

How It Works

1. Add images — up to 10 JPG, PNG or WebP files, 20 MB each.
2. Choose settings — quality (10–100%, default 80%), maximum width (keep, 1920, 1280, 800 or 600 px) and output format (same as original, JPG, PNG or WebP).
3. Compress — each image is drawn to a canvas at the new size (on white if converting to JPG) and encoded at your quality. The tool shows the new size and percentage saved; download one by one or as a ZIP.

Supported Input → Output Formats

Unsupported Formats

GIF, HEIC, BMP and TIFF aren't accepted here — convert them first with the Image Converter. Animated images lose their animation. Compression strips EXIF metadata such as GPS location and camera details, which is usually a benefit when sharing. PDF files need Compress PDF instead.

File Size Limits

Up to 10 images per batch and 20 MB per image. Browser canvas limits mean extremely large images (over about 50 megapixels) may fail on phones.

As a guide, a 4 MB phone photo capped at 1920 px wide and saved at 80% usually ends up between 250 and 500 KB — small enough for any email and most upload forms.
