PNG to JPG

Convert PNG images to smaller JPG files with adjustable quality and a background colour of your choice for transparent areas.

Runs in your browser. Files and text you add here are processed on your own device with JavaScript and are not uploaded to our server. Some tools download a free open-source library (for example PDF.js or QPDF) from a public CDN the first time you use them. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

A 6 MB PNG screenshot won't attach to a job application form capped at 2 MB. A product photo exported as PNG makes a shop page crawl. In both cases the fix is the same: convert to JPG and let lossy compression do its job.

This tool converts PNG to JPG in your browser with a quality slider, and it handles the one thing that trips people up — transparency. JPG can't store transparent pixels, so you choose what colour they become instead of getting an ugly black box.

The size drop is usually dramatic for photos and screen captures of real-world content: a 4 MB PNG commonly lands between 300 and 600 KB as an 85% JPG. Flat graphics with a handful of colours shrink less, and sometimes a PNG is already the smaller choice — the result list shows the new size of every file so you can decide.

How It Works

  1. Add PNG files — one or a batch of up to 50. Files that aren't PNG are rejected with a clear message.
  2. Pick quality and background — set JPG quality (90% is the default) and choose white, black or light grey for any transparent areas. The canvas is flattened onto that colour before encoding.
  3. Encode to JPG — the browser's JPEG encoder compresses each image; results appear with their new size so you can compare before downloading individually or as a ZIP.

Compatibility & Support

Supported Input → Output Formats

  • Input: .png (8-bit, 24-bit and 32-bit with alpha, including screenshots and exported graphics)
  • Output: .jpg (baseline JPEG, sRGB), quality 40–100%
  • Transparency: replaced by the background colour you choose

Unsupported Formats

Animated PNG (APNG) files convert to a single still frame — JPG has no animation. 16-bit-per-channel PNGs from scientific or HDR workflows are reduced to 8 bits, which is what JPG supports. For other source formats, use the Image Converter.

File Size Limits

Up to 50 images per batch and 60 MB per image. The real ceiling is your device's memory: a browser canvas tops out around 50 megapixels, so a 12,000 × 9,000 px panorama may fail on a phone even though it works on a laptop.

Who Should Use This Tool?

  • Students: A student uploading assignment screenshots to an LMS with a 5 MB limit shrinks a batch of PNG captures to a fraction of their size.
  • Freelancers & Designers: A designer sending proofs to a client over WhatsApp converts heavy PNG exports to 85% JPG so they arrive quickly and still look sharp.
  • Office Professionals: An admin assistant emailing twenty scanned receipts saved as PNG converts them to JPG so the email stays under the 25 MB attachment limit.
  • Developers: A developer auditing a slow landing page swaps hero PNGs for JPGs and checks the size drop immediately before committing.

Key Features / Khusoosiyat

Here's what separates this tool from generic alternatives:

🎚️

Quality Slider

Choose anywhere from 40% to 100%. Around 85–90% is visually identical for photos at a fraction of the size.

🎨

Background Choice

Pick white, black or grey for transparent areas instead of an unpredictable default.

📦

Batch + ZIP

Up to 50 PNGs per run, downloaded individually or as one ZIP.

🔒

Private by Design

Conversion runs locally; your screenshots and designs are never uploaded.

📊

Size Shown Instantly

Each result lists its new file size so you can tune quality before downloading.

🧹

Clean Output

No watermark, no added metadata, same pixel dimensions as the original.

Why This Tool Beats the Alternatives

  • Your images stay on your device instead of being uploaded to a third-party server.
  • Transparent areas become the colour you pick — some converters silently turn them black.
  • No daily conversion cap, no account, no watermark.
  • Quality is adjustable instead of fixed at a single preset.
  • Batch mode and ZIP download are included free.

Pro Tips

  • For photos, 85% quality is the sweet spot: usually 80–90% smaller than the PNG with no visible difference.
  • Keep screenshots of text as PNG if you can — JPG adds faint halos around sharp letters. Convert only when size limits force you to.
  • If the result still exceeds an upload limit, run it through the Image Resizer — halving the width cuts the file roughly by four.

Add your PNG files above, set the quality, and download smaller JPGs straight away.
