WebP to PNG

Convert WebP images to lossless PNG with transparent backgrounds preserved β€” ideal for editing and presentations.

Runs in your browser. Files and text you add here are processed on your own device with JavaScript and are not uploaded to our server. Some tools download a free open-source library (for example PDF.js or QPDF) from a public CDN the first time you use them. Very large files depend on your device's memory.

WebP logos, stickers and UI graphics often have transparent backgrounds. Convert them to JPG and that transparency is gone. PNG keeps it β€” and PNG is accepted by practically every editor, office suite and design tool.

This converter decodes WebP images in your browser and saves them as lossless PNG files with the alpha channel intact. It is the right choice when you need to edit a WebP asset, drop it into Canva or PowerPoint, or hand it to someone whose software doesn't read WebP.

Nothing is uploaded. The conversion uses your browser's own WebP decoder and PNG encoder, so a folder of 50 icons converts in seconds even on a slow connection.

A typical case: a client sends a set of product cut-outs exported from their website as WebP, and you need to drop them into a printed catalogue layout in InDesign or Publisher. Those programs want PNG or TIFF. Converting here gives you PNGs with the cut-out edges untouched, ready to place over any background colour in the layout.

How It Works

  1. Choose WebP images β€” single files or batches of up to 50, lossy or lossless, with or without transparency.
  2. Decode with alpha β€” each image is drawn onto a transparent canvas so every semi-transparent edge pixel keeps its exact opacity.
  3. Write PNG β€” the canvas is encoded as a 32-bit PNG with lossless DEFLATE compression. Download individually or as a ZIP.

Compatibility & Support

Supported Input β†’ Output Formats

  • Input: .webp (lossy, lossless, with or without alpha)
  • Output: .png, 32-bit RGBA, identical pixel dimensions
  • Transparency: preserved exactly

Unsupported Formats

Animated WebP files are saved as their first frame. PNG output from a lossy WebP is lossless from that point on, but it cannot recover detail the WebP compression already removed.

Expect the PNG to be larger than the WebP β€” often 2–5Γ— for photos. If you only need a smaller, widely compatible file and don't care about transparency, WebP to JPG is the better fit.

File Size Limits

Up to 50 images per batch and 60 MB per file. Your device's memory is the practical ceiling: browsers cap a single canvas at roughly 50 megapixels, so an extremely large panorama can fail on a phone while working on a laptop. If that happens, the tool shows a clear message instead of a blank download.

PNG files are bigger than WebP, so a 50-image batch of large graphics can produce a ZIP of several hundred megabytes. Split very large jobs into two or three batches if your device is low on storage.

Who Should Use This Tool?

  • Students: A student designing a poster in Canva converts WebP clip-art with transparent backgrounds to PNG so it layers cleanly over the background.
  • Freelancers & Designers: A designer who received brand assets exported as WebP converts them to PNG for editing in older design software that doesn't import WebP.
  • Office Professionals: A trainer building slides converts WebP diagrams from an internal wiki to PNG so they paste into PowerPoint with transparent backgrounds.
  • Developers: A mobile developer converts WebP sprites to PNG to test a legacy Android build that predates WebP-with-alpha support.

Key Features / Khusoosiyat

Here's what separates this tool from generic alternatives:

πŸ«₯

Alpha Preserved

Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are kept exactly.

πŸ’Ž

Lossless Output

PNG never adds new compression artifacts, however often you re-save.

πŸ“¦

Batch + ZIP

Up to 50 files at once with a single ZIP download.

πŸ”’

Local Only

Nothing is uploaded; conversion happens in your browser.

🧩

Editor-Friendly

PNG opens in Office, Canva, GIMP, Photoshop and every browser.

πŸ“

Exact Size

Same width and height as the source image.

Why This Tool Beats the Alternatives

  • Keeps transparency that JPG-only converters discard.
  • No uploads, so private or unreleased graphics stay on your machine.
  • No account, credits or watermark.
  • Batch processing included at no cost.
  • Clear expectations about file size before you download.

Pro Tips

  • For photographs with no transparency, JPG is usually the better destination β€” PNG will be much larger with no visible benefit.
  • After converting, check semi-transparent shadows on a dark slide background; that is where differences between editors show up.
  • Keep both copies if the image goes on a website: WebP for the site, PNG for documents and editing.

Drop your WebP files above and download transparent PNG copies ready for editing.
